Professor Chomsky spoke at the 4 February 2022 event where the world-renowned activist and intellectual offered his words of concern and solidarity for the persecuted minorities of India while touching on other issues of global importance. He called attention to Israel’s continuing persecution of the indigenous Palestinians citing Amnesty and Human RIghts Watch’s designation of Israel as a (second) apartheid.

As an early genocide whistle-blower, Chomsky discussed the genocide of Rohingya in Myanmar. He also warned against the rising “pathology of Islamophobia” which is enveloping the world.

Finally, he raised deep concerns about the ecological destruction primarily caused over the past centuries by the rich nations of the west and the impact felt by the poor nations in the Global South, including South Asia.
