Former UNRWA Spokesman, Chris Gunness said, “Former UNRWA Spokesman, Chris Gunness said, “World leaders have abandoned the people of Gaza and millions of people around the world feel shocked and powerless in the face of history’s first live-streamed genocide. But students across the world have shown us the power of mass action through the Gaza Solidarity Encampment Movement. And now billions more can join them and show political and business leaders that they will pay a price for their political and economic support for mass killing.”

Gunness also made the announcement for #StrikeForRafah during his TV interview yesterday.

“Israel cannot build peace on genocide,” stressed the Northern Irish activist and Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire, in her 30-minutes in-depth interview with FORSEA’s co-founder Dr Maung Zarni last December.

Maguire had visited the Occupied Territories from which she had been deported twice by Israeli authorities. She said;

“A democratic free Palestine is only Possible if the west drops its double Standards, stops financing and arming a land grab, ethnic cleansing and Genocide by Israel, of the Palestinian people and their land.”

The campaign is also asking people to post videos in support of Palestinians in Gaza, using the hashtag #RIseForRaffah. Its organizers say they aim to compel political leaders to take all measures to fulfil their moral, political and legal obligations to prevent genocide.

They stress that their initiative has no political leader or central organizing body. It will succeed through each individual hearing this message, and taking action to the best of your ability.

Within 36 hours of going live, the campaign had garnered a substantial number of social media endorsements including Britain’s former Labour MP Keith Vaz (for Leicester East) and FORSEA co-founder Burmese activist, genocide scholar Dr Maung Zarni, the renowned Malaysian social activist, film director, educator and political comedian Hishamudin Rais.
